In the last
six years, hundreds of pastors have been murdered in Colombia,
South America. Occurring primarily in rural areas outside the Colombian
cities, these atrocities have been accredited to rebel groups who
oppose Christianity’s anti-violent teachings. Left
behind are widows and fatherless children whom many have nowhere to turn for help.
James 1:27 instructs us to look after the orphans and widows “in their
distress”.
The Colombia Life Center is located in Bogota, Colombia.
Children’s Impact Network has worked alongside their
ministry partners to renovate and repair the home. It is now a safe
refuge hundreds of miles away from the dangerously violentcommunities
they used to call home. We now have a mother and her five children living in the Colombia Life Center.
We are prayerfully seeking financial partners and short term missions teams to serve the families of the Colombia Life Center. This is an amazing opportunity for you to be a part of something that will impact lives of widows and fatherless children for many years to come.
Maritza and widow
Our partner church is an active missions-oriented church in the heart of Bogota. They provide drug rehabilitation services and assistance to the homeless. By partnering with their ministry, Children’s Impact Network will help them extend their ministries to widows and the fatherless of martyred Christian pastors.
Through the help of the church and an application process, two widows and their children will be invited to move into the Colombia Life Center. These families will live in the home for one year, during which time they will receive counseling (both adult and child counseling), support from the church body, employment at the church and vocational training.
The goal of the Colombia Life Center will be to support the widows during their grieving process and prepare them to be the financial provider for their families. Many of these widows have never worked outside of the home. Now, because of the violence inflicted on their family simply because they are believers whom refused to deny the Lord, they are single mothers – scared, heart broken and unsure how to provide for their children. When the women leave the Colombia Life Center they will be provided with the equipment and materials needed to start their own small business or continue their trade. For example, there is a sewing workshop already set up at the home. This will be one of the trades women will have the option of learning to provide for their families.
